The Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association (OCA) extends its heartfelt appreciation to the Oklahoma House of Representatives and Senate for unanimously passing resolutions designating May as Beef Month in Oklahoma. This declaration serves as a testament to the vital role of beef producers in our state's economy and culture.  HR 1038 by House Agriculture Committee Chairman Representative Dell Kerbs and SR 43 by Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman Senator Chris Kidd were adopted on Wednesday, May 1st.

“Beef Month is a celebration of the tireless efforts of our hardworking ranchers and producers who dedicate themselves to supplying high-quality beef to tables across Oklahoma and beyond," remarked Michael Kelsey, Executive Vice President of the OCA. "It also highlights the great tasting, nutritious and wholesome beef that Oklahomans absolutely love."

In addition to May being Beef Month in Oklahoma, May 8th is Beef Day at the Capitol.  OCA is hosting the event at the State Capitol to celebrate beef and highlight beef production in Oklahoma. The 2nd Floor Rotunda will have information displays from the Noble Research Institute, Oklahoma Beef Council, Oklahoma CattleWomen, and Oklahoma State University Animal Science.

The Oklahoma Beef Council is a great source of information for beef nutrition and preparation methods at www.oklabeef.org.  Great tasting and convenient beef recipes can be found at www.beefitswhatsfordinner.com.  OCA invites Oklahomans to join in celebrating Beef Month by enjoying beef for lunch, dinner and even breakfast.

The OCA is the trusted voice of the Oklahoma Cattle Industry and works to protect and empower Oklahoma cattlemen today, to serve tomorrow. OCA is the only voice that speaks solely for the cattlemen of Oklahoma and represents beef producers in all 77 counties across the state. The OCA officers, board of directors and membership encourages you to join us in our advocacy efforts to ensure less government intervention, lower taxes, and a better bottom line. For more information about OCA membership, the theft reward program or activities call 405-235-4391 or visit www.okcattlemen.org.
