Virginia Tech University basketball star Sean Pedulla once played his high school ball at Edmond Memorial High School, where he left a lasting legacy on Bulldogs’ hoops.

The middle child of nine siblings and the older brother of Memorial basketball’s Ciaran and DJ Pedulla, Sean graduated from EMHS in 2021 after having led the Bulldogs to three Class 6A state tournament appearances.

Now, Pedulla leads Division I Virginia Tech through the 2024 NIT Tournament after the Hokies ended the regular season with a 19-14 record and finished eighth in the ACC conference.

The 6-foot-1, 195-pound junior has become the top player on a Power Five basketball team that has put a fair share of players in the NBA, including current players Nickeil Alexander-Walker and Dorian Finney-Smith, as well as former players like Dell Curry (father of Steph Curry) and Wayne Robinson.

Pedulla leads the Hokies in scoring this season at 16.4 points per game and has gone off for six 25-plus scoring games. His best game of the year (so far) came in a Jan. 13 matchup with Miami (FL.) where he scored a season-high 33 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in a loss to the Hurricanes.

Pedulla also leads the team in assists and steals, and is second in rebounds from his point guard position.

As a high schooler at Memorial, Pedulla was a two-time All-State selection and, in his senior year, won Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference (COAC) Offensive Player of the Year. He was rated by 247Sports as the 165th-best prospect in the country for the class of 2021 and the second-best player in the state of Oklahoma.

Pedulla and the third-seeded Hokies won their first round matchup of the NIT against Richmond, 74-58, and will face No. 2-seed Ohio State in the second round on Saturday, March 23, at 7 P.M.
