The Central Oklahoma men’s golf team finished sixth at the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Men’s Golf Championships.

Last week’s conference championships pit all MIAA member schools against each other in a three-day tournament at Kansas City’s Shoal Creek Golf Course. The Bronchos tied with Washburn University with 909 total points as a team after three rounds.

Coach Derrick Thompson‘s group got off to a slow start on day one of the event, finding themselves in eighth place after one round. They moved up to seventh by the second day and finally, placed sixth out of ten participating schools when all was said and done.

Jordan Wilson finished with the fifth-highest individual score of the tournament to lead UCO, totaling 221 points at seven over-par after two solid 71-point rounds. Bennett Baldwin was the team’s next highest finisher, tying for 14th after shooting a 74 on the final day.

Nick Canales placed No. 30 following his 78,77,77 three-round performance. Dylan Henderson finished at T-34 and Baylor Bostick came in at 49th after playing just the final two rounds.

Missouri Southern State’s Luis Lemon had the top individual score at 217. MSSU won the event with 887 total points, followed by second-place Central Missouri and third-place Northeastern State.

UCO last won the MIAA title in 2017. The program has won three conference championships in total since joining the MIAA in 2012.

The Bronchos enjoy a three-week break to prepare for the NCAA Division II Regional Championships. They’ll compete in the Central/Midwest Super Regional at Edmond’s KickingBird Golf Club starting Thursday, May 9, and finishing Saturday, May 11.
