A packed crowd turned out to watch Oklahoma Christian School boys’ basketball take on rival Christian Heritage Academy, a game that saw the Saints win, 79-46.

Fans from both teams left no seat unfilled Friday night (Feb. 2) as the OCS gym was packed to the brim. Despite shooting an unremarkable 26% from the three-point line, OCS now scores over 75 points in three-straight games, winning each by 15-plus.

The Saints improve to 18-2 this season and remain atop the Class 3A standings with just three games left to go in the regular season.

Friday’s matchup was never really in question from the get-go, as OCS jumped out to a 20-7 lead by the end of the first quarter. The Saints’ size and speed was too much for the Class 2A Crusaders, who had a particularly difficult time defending senior Luke Gray. The 6-foot-8 big man towered over any matchup Christian Heritage sent his way, leading to easy buckets for OCS.

Gray recently achieved the 1,000-career points milestone and even scored 50 in a game against Harding Charter School on Jan. 27.

The Saints entered halftime with a 48-15 lead, highlighted by Gray’s 11 first-half points. OCS also recorded 11 steals as a team in the first two quarters.

The home team’s dominance continued into the second half as well, with OCS head coach Brandon Weaver emptying his bench midway through the third quarter. The Saints eventually won, 79-46, to make for their third-highest point total so far this season despite missing usual starter Carson Jones, who sat out due to injury.

James Huffmyer led OCS in scoring with 13 points off the bench, followed by three players who each finished with 11 (Luke Gray, Junior Nsengiyumva and Connor Owens). Twelve different players recorded points for the Saints on Friday.

Up next, Coach Weaver’s squad now faces one of their toughest challenges of the season as they travel to Millwood High School to play the Class 3A No. 5-ranked Falcons on Tuesday, Feb. 6.
