Head coach Romus Cezar’s first year back with Oklahoma Christian School baseball ends in the Class 3A Area Tournament as the Saints lose a pair of games to be officially eliminated from state tournament contention.

OCS entered Areas on Thursday as the No. 11-seed following their regional championship a week ago. They matched up with No. 6 Silo in a best-two-out-of-three series on Wednesday, May 1, losing 7-1 in game one, then 12-3 later that day in game two.

The Saints miss out on the state tournament for the first time since the 2020-2021 season.

After defeating Silo during the regular season at the Bo Duren Invitational, April 13, OCS drops two in-a-row to the Rebels with the season on the line. The team had won nine-straight contests leading up to the series including an undefeated 3-0 in the Class 3A Region Eight regional tournament.

Will Martin put in the Saints’ only run in their game one loss. Silo jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning before Martin knocked in an RBI single to cut it to 2-1. It would be OCS’s only score however, as Silo rattled off five-straight to take the opening game of the series, 7-1.

Game two saw improved success for OCS in the batter’s box compared to the opener, but not so much on the mound. The Saints fell behind, 0-3, in the fourth inning but eventually evened it up with three scores of their own. From there, Silo ran in nine batters in four innings to win the game and the series, 12-3.

Silo advances to the state tournament for the 22nd-straight season. They went 25-8 overall and 12-2 in district play.

OCS finishes the 2024 season with a record of 19-12 as regional champions and District 3A-4 runners-up. Coach Cezar’s team went 9-3 in district games with series wins over Star-Spencer, Blackwell and Alva, as well as a 3-2 record against schools from classes 4A or higher.
