The Central Oklahoma Athletic Conference (COAC) boys and girls tennis tournament commenced Saturday, April 13, and a handful of local teams took home some hardware when all was said and done.

Thirteen member schools gathered at the Oklahoma City Tennis Center to play for conference superiority, with Deer Creek, Edmond Memorial, Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe representing the Edmond-area teams. All four schools competed in both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments.

The big winners of the day were the Edmond North boys’ team, who secured the tournament championship thanks to first-place finishes in both doubles brackets and two runner-up finishes in each of the singles brackets.

Jack Franklin and Monte Mora ran the table to win the No. 1 Boys Doubles tourney for the Huskies, taking the final matchup over Yukon. The No. 2 Boys Doubles was won by Noah Gou and Wyatt Hague, who defeated Carson Ogilbee and Dominik Morrison of Edmond Memorial in the final round.

The Huskies finished with 48 points as a team to win the boys’ tournament. Edmond North’s girls’ team placed fourth in the girls’ tourney with 34 points.

Edmond Memorial enjoyed a successful day in OKC as well. Along with finishing second in the boys’ tournament behind North, the Bulldogs’ girls also came in second in their respective tourney, falling just two points behind first-place Stillwater.

Ava Goodell and Evie Lunsford took home the gold in the No. 1 Girls Singles and No. 2 Girls Singles, respectively. With wins by Luke Bishop and Eli Lemley in the boys singles, Edmond Memorial finished as champions of every singles bracket in the tournament.

Memorial’s duo of Lauren Krise and Allie Dolezal also earned fourth place in the No. 1 Girls Doubles.

Deer Creek’s teams had a solid day of action. The boys’ squad finished fourth overall with 29 points, while the Antlers’ girls tied for fifth place with Yukon with 29 points.

Edmond Santa Fe’s boys ended the day at seventh place with their only medal coming by Caleb Cumpton, who placed third in the No. 1 Boys Singles bracket. The Wolves’ girls’ team tied for ninth with just 13 points on the day.
