As the seconds wound down on the first half, the sophomore completed her hat trick.

Londyn Lawrence’s three first-half goals were part of an impressive offensive effort Tuesday afternoon in Edmond as the Oklahoma Christian School girls’ soccer team defeated Cordell 11-1.

OCS (8-0 overall, 1-0 District 3A-1) celebrated senior night in fashion and built a big enough lead to pull the seniors with 29 minutes to play.

Cordell (2-5, 1-2) swapped goalkeepers at halftime, but neither could halt the offensive avalanche.

OCS coach Jeff Stone said he is pleased with how his team is playing.

“They played well,” Stone said. “We found our rhythm early… They’re starting to come together.”

Lawrence scored her third goal with 42 seconds left in the half. She scored the opening goal less than 7 minutes into the game, but the Lady Saints had been challenging the Blue Devils’ defense from kickoff.

The ball mostly stayed in the Cordell half, but the Blue Devils got on the board 13 minutes before halftime when junior Erin Dudgeon scored from a free kick, making it 3-1. The Lady Saints responded in 30 seconds when Lawrence scored her second.

Stone said Lawrence has the right attitude on the pitch.

“She has that want to,” Stone said. “She wants to score, and she wants the ball. I’m very pleased with how she played. I’m pleased with all of them.”

Lawrence had the lone hat trick, but two of her teammates scored two apiece. Sophomore Hannah Volskuhl scored once in each half, and junior Taylor Zerr scored back-to-back in the second.

Eight games into the year, OCS has outscored its opponents 54-4. Lawrence said the Lady Saints must connect as a team to be able to perform so well.

“Obviously, it’s all in the glory of God,” Lawrence said. “He gives us all of our skills. All of our teamwork put together and all of our practices and hard work, for sure.”
