Desi Abney (North) versus Santa Fe
Playoff soccer is coming to Edmond next week with five teams hosting first-round matches.
The Edmond North girls and Deer Creek boys both won district championships. The Edmond Memorial boys, Deer Creek girls and Oklahoma Christian School girls each finished second in their districts and will also host in the first round.
The first round will include an Edlam matchup when the Edmond Santa Fe girls (4-7) visit North (9-3). The Lady Huskies defeated the Lady Wolves in a penalty shootout March 23. After each team scored one goal in regulation, North won the shootout 5-4.
The winner of this rematch will face the winner between Deer Creek (10-4) and Mustang (11-4). Mustang defeated the Lady Antlers 2-1 during the regular season, also on March 23.
The Edlam winner will host the second-round match.
The Memorial girls are in the same half of the bracket. The Lady Bulldogs (9-6) will travel to Owasso (8-2). The winner faces the winner between Union and Sapulpa. If the Lady Bulldogs reach the semifinals, they could potentially face another Edmond opponent.
In Class 3A, the OCS girls (13-1) will host Harding Charter Prep (11-3). If the Lady Saints win, they will hit the road in the second round to face either Bridge Creek or Mount St. Mary.
On the boys’ side, the Saints (8-6) will travel to Community Christian (9-4). OCS previously defeated CCS 1-0 in overtime early in the regular season. The winner faces the winner between Mount St. Mary and Christian Heritage.
In Class 6A, the Deer Creek boys (12-2) open the playoffs at home against Southmoore (9-5). If the Antlers win, they will host either Westmoore or Northwest Classen.
Memorial (8-4) will host Owasso (8-7). With a win, the Bulldogs will travel to either Stillwater or Sand Springs.
The Bulldogs and Antlers could potentially meet in the semifinals. That match would be at Memorial.
Class 3A first-round matches will be played May 3, while 6A first-round matches will be played May 4. Second-round matches are scheduled for May 6 in 3A and May 7 in 6A.
