Edmond to Host Multiple Playoff Games; Basketball Brackets Revealed

Three Edmond high school boys’ basketball teams and one girls’ basketball team will host regionals as part of the 2021 playoffs.

The Oklahoma Secondary Schools Activities Association (OSSAA) released the Class 5A and 6A playoff brackets Thursday. Edmond Memorial, Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe will each host a boys’ regional in the West Area. Edmond North will also host a girls’ regional in the East Area.

The Deer Creek boys will travel to the Putnam City North regional. The Memorial girls will travel to Bixby, Deer Creek will travel to Choctaw and Santa Fe will travel to Norman.

All three boys’ hosts will play their first-round games at 8 p.m. on Feb. 26. All boys’ regional finals will take place at 7 p.m. the next day. All four Edmond 6A boys’ teams are in the West Area.

The No. 1 Memorial boys will host U.S. Grant in the first round. The winner will face the winner between No. 18 Southmoore and No. 19 Northwest Classen.

No. 3 North will host Norman. The winner will face the winner between No. 17 Moore and Westmoore.

No. 13 Santa Fe will host Lawton in the first round, with the winner facing the winner between No. 7 Choctaw and Yukon.

Deer Creek will open against No. 16 Mustang at 6 p.m. Feb. 26. The winner will face the winner between Putnam City and No. 6 Putnam City North.

On the girls’ side, the Edmond 6A squads are split between the East and West Areas. All girls’ first round games are on Feb. 25, with the regional finals at 1:30 p.m. Feb. 27.

In the east, No. 2 North will host Enid at 8 p.m. Winner gets the winner between No. 17 Muskogee and No. 15 Putnam City West.

The No. 11 Memorial girls will play at 6. p.m. the same day against Broken Arrow, with the winner advancing to face either Jenks or No. 6 Bixby.

In the West Area, No. 16 Santa Fe will open at 6 p.m. against No. 20 Putnam City. The winner will face the winner between No. 1 Norman and U.S. Grant.

Finally, the No. 14 Deer Creek girls open at 6 p.m. against Westmoore. The winner will await the winner between No. 4 Choctaw and Southmoore.

Regional winners and runners-up will advance to the area tournaments, set to begin March 4 for the girls and March 5 for the boys. The 6A state tournaments are set to begin March 11.

Thursday’s announcement follows the previously released brackets for Classes 2A through 4A.

Oklahoma Christian School has been assigned to Class 3A Area I, District 3. OCS will play at Perry Feb. 19. The Lady Saints play at 6 p.m., followed by the Saints at 8 p.m. Both will face either Crossings Christian or Chandler to open regionals, jointly hosted by CCS and Chisholm.

Oklahoma Christian Academy is in Class 2A Area IV, District 3. OCA will host Porter Consolidated the same day and times as the OCS games. The Eagles and Lady Eagles will face either Canadian or Okemah to open regional play, jointly hosted by Porter and Konawa.

Area tournaments for these classes will take place March 4 through 6. State is set to begin March 9.
