The high school girls’ golf championships concluded Thursday, and two Edmond schools brought home championship hardware.

Edmond North won the 6A state title at Broken Arrow Golf Club, edging Edmond Memorial by one stroke.

North’s Haley Blevins won the individual championship with a 146, beating Jenks’ Lily Stanton by four strokes. Memorial’s Olivia Coit came in third with a 152.

In the 3A state tournament at Westwood Park Golf Club in Norman, Brooklyn Benn of Oklahoma Christian School won the individual state championship with a 132, beating Drew Faires of Mount Saint Mary by 10 strokes.

As a team, OCS finished second with a 638, 10 strokes behind state champions Plainview.

The tournaments took place over two rounds. Memorial led North in the 6A team race by one stroke after the first round, but the Lady Huskies beat out the Lady Bulldogs by two Thursday. North finished with a team score of 628, while Memorial finished with a 629.

Blevins led after round one with a 72. Coit had the best score of round two with a 73, but Blevins’ 74 was enough to clinch the championship.

Meanwhile, the Lady Saints were consistent, golfing a 319 both days. Plainview posted a 311 in round one and a 317 in round two, so OCS was unable to make up the gap. OCS finished well ahead of third-place Perkins-Tryon, who finished with a 680 team score.

Benn was the only 3A golfer to have a round under 70, and she did it twice. She led the way in round one with a 68 then beat herself with a 64 Thursday.

This is the tenth state championship for North. The Lady Huskies have won the past three 6A girls’ state titles after winning in 2018 and 2019. No champion was named in 2020.

The Lady Saints bring home an individual champion but fell short of their second team title. Like North, OCS won the team title in 2019, albeit while in Class 2A.

Memorial was also searching for its second state title. The Lady Bulldogs won a team title in 2008.
