Three Edmond-area varsity baseball teams are set to compete at the annual Spartan/Tiger Turf War this week.

The three-day event will take place at both Bixby High School and Broken Arrow high School from Thursday, April 11 to Saturday, April 13. It will feature 11 different schools from across the state.

Deer Creek, Edmond Memorial and Edmond North represent the local squads making the trip northeast.

Other schools participating include hosts Bixby and Broken Arrow, as well as Choctaw, Jenks, Noble, Westmoore, Salina and Victory Christian School.

The Deer Creek Antlers might currently be one of the hottest teams in the state right now. Winners of their last eight games (five of those being shutouts), the team has flipped its season on its head after starting the year 6-10 under first-year head coach Andrew McGuire.

The Antlers now sit at 14-10 as the fourth-ranked team in District 6A-1. They’ll begin the festival against cross-city rival Edmond Memorial on Thursday.

Speaking of the Bulldogs, coach JP Holman and his crew will be looking for a bounce back after suffering three-straight losses. At 14-8 so far this season, Memorial ranks second in the District 6A-2 standings behind Choctaw, who just handed them a series loss.

Thursday’s day one matchup between the Antlers and Bulldogs will begin at 4:45 P.M.

Edmond North comes into the three-day event with the best record of any local squad. The Huskies are 16-5 up to this point in the season at No. 1 in the 6A-1 district standings (10-0). They are currently undefeated in series this season with wins over Putnam City West, Norman, Putnam City, Northwest Classen and Yukon.

The Huskies first game of the festival will be against Bixby on Thursday at 7 P.M.
