High school baseball regionals begin this week, and Edmond will host several playoff tournaments.

Edmond Memorial, Deer Creek and Oklahoma Christian School all won their respective district titles and earned the right to host. OCS opened the playoffs last weekend by sweeping a bi-district series with Star Spencer. The 6A schools begin their playoff runs at regionals.

Memorial (24-8) will open the double-elimination tournament against Muskogee (2-14). This will be the first game between the two this season. Jenks (26-9) and Enid (22-11) will join the Bulldogs at the regional. Memorial swept a district series against Enid but has yet to play Jenks.

Deer Creek (31-3) will host an unusual regional since its opposite district, 6A-2, had only seven teams this season. Southmoore (16-19) and Moore (15-17) will be the other participants. The three will play a round robin-robin Thursday. If any team loses twice, it will be eliminated and the other two will meet Friday. If all three split their Thursday games, Moore and Southmoore will play again Friday, with the winner facing Deer Creek. The Antlers swept a district series with Southmoore and beat Moore in their only meeting.

After the bi-district tournaments cut the 3A field in half, OCS (23-6) will face stiffer competition on its home field than will the 6A schools. The Saints open against Hugo (18-12), with Kingston (25-6) and Jones (20-8) also traveling to Edmond. All four hosted bi-district series after finishing top four in their respective districts. OCS has yet to play any of the three.

Edmond North and Edmond Santa Fe both finished third in their districts. They will not host regionals, but they still have a good opportunity to advance to state.

North (20-11) is headed to Mustang. The Huskies will begin their run against Putnam City North (10-16). Despite having been scheduled to play twice in the regular season, this will be the first meeting between the Huskies and Panthers. Host Mustang (20-11) will open against Midwest City (17-16). North split a pair of games against the hosting Broncos. North won 4-3 on April 1 but lost to Mustang 1-0 at the conference tournament April 24. North swept Midwest City in a doubleheader two days later.

Meanwhile, Santa Fe (16-14) will head to Westmoore. The Wolves, who are technically the reigning state champions since no champ was named in 2020, will open their postseason against Norman (9-24). Sante Fe beat the Tigers 9-0 March 5. The hosting Jaguars (17-16) will open against Lawton (5-23). Santa Fe swept Lawton in district play but lost both meetings with Westmoore.

Regionals are set to begin Thursday. The eight regional winners from each class will compete in the state tournament beginning May 13.
