Erin E. Stevens, Business Development, Manager

Erin Stevens

I was born in Pennsylvania, grew up in Western New York and went to college in Washington, D.C. So, yes, safe to say I am a born Yankee, though moved to Texas after college. I was a military spouse for almost 14 years, living here in Oklahoma, Italy, and New Mexico. The military is what forged my ties to Oklahoma, and my son, now 14, was born in Moore, OK.

I attended George Washington University for Criminal Justice, Political Science and Psychology, and later got my Master’s in Business Administration with University of Phoenix while living in Italy. Last year I earned my Certified Professional Digital Marketing certificate. I am also licensed in several states as a health and life insurance agent, and have run my own tax business since 2014 (starting with running the Aviano Air Base Tax Office for the US Air Force in Italy).

As a military spouse and working through college, I have experience in almost every field imaginable. I’ve run small businesses, non-profits, bars and restaurants, a Chamber, large event centers and digital marketing. I still have my own tax and life insurance business, EE$ Financials & Consulting, and help run The Edmond Way newspaper.

I have learned a lot about Edmond and newspapers in general with my new position, and I am looking forward to helping the community and being a conduit for communication and truthful, unbiased local news.

George McCormick, Sports Reporter

George McCormick

I’m an Okie through and through, having been born in Oklahoma City and raised in Piedmont where I graduated high school in 2019. I got my Bachelor’s degree in Sports Media from Oklahoma State University, where I honed my skills as a sports writer while working as a freelance reporter for Heartland College Sports, a college sports website that focused on the Big 12 before finally landing at The Edmond Way earlier this year.

Sports has always been my top passion dating back as far as I can remember. I grew up attending OSU football games and OKC Thunder basketball games as often as I could beg my parents to take me. This led to a lifelong career as an athlete of any sport I could get my hands on, including football, basketball, soccer and track and field. Alongside my love of sports, I eventually discovered my passion for writing, and when I decided to combine the two when I majored in Sports Media at OSU, my career path was locked in for life.

I graduated from college in May 2023 and started working for The Edmond Way two months later in July, where I became the head sports reporter covering five local high schools, an NCAA Division II university and all local sports the city of Edmond has to offer.

Working for The Edmond Way has taught me so much in such a short time about the newspaper business and about the city of Edmond in general, and I’m continuing to learn something new every single day. My goal is to provide Edmond with top notch coverage of local sports while having fun doing what I love. The area is teeming with some of the top sports and athletes in the entire state, and the people of Edmond deserve a paper that gives them nothing but the best.
