Imogene “Jeannie” Summers, age 91, of Guthrie, OK, passed away Monday, July 11, in Oklahoma City, OK following a brief illness.  Jeannie was born January 21, 1931, to James Joseph “Joe” and Martha Ester “Dolly” (Thompson) Roberts in Wetumka, OK.

A career educator, she also served as the superintendent of Logan County schools until her retirement.  After retirement, when she wasn’t traveling, you could find Jeannie enjoying friends, painting, and doing needle crafts.  In her later years she found particular pleasure listening to country music played by local performers.  

Jeannie is preceded in death by husbands, Bob Murray, G.T. Hendon, and Thomas Summers; brother, Bob Roberts; and children, Joe Murray and Rhonda Magnus. 

Jeannie is survived by daughter, Patricia Ann Murray, Oklahoma City; brother, James Roberts, Edmond, OK; four stepchildren:  Dalene Musgrove, Tulsa, OK, Debara Corrado, Webbers Falls, OK, David Summers, Broken Arrow, OK, and Dawn Evans, Faucett, MO, and long-time friend and fellow music lover, Calvin Reasoner, Cashion, OK.  She is also survived by twelve grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, July 21, 2022 at Smith Memorial Chapel in Guthrie. Interment will follow at Summit View Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, 220 North 1st St., Guthrie, OK 73044.

Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M., Wednesday, July 20, at Smith-Gallo Funeral Home with family present to receive friends from 6:00 P.M to 7:00 P.M.  

In lieu of flowers, Jeannie requested that memorials be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38100.
