The city of Edmond primary election took place Tuesday, and the final candidates for the April 6 general election are now set.

Sheryl Janis led the way for Ward 3 councilmember with 45.76 percent of the vote. Christin Mugg edged Cody Boyd with 31.58 percent to join Janis in the general election.

The absentee ballots heavily favored Mugg. She received 106 absentee votes, while Janis and Boyd collected a combined 86. However, Janis carried the election day results with 718 votes to Mugg’s 414.

In total, Janis received 755 votes, Mugg 521 and Boyd 374.

In Ward 4, Stacie Peterson and David Miller will advance to the general election. Peterson was the clear favorite among voters in the primary, receiving 45.88 percent of the vote. Miller and Michael Buoy were close, but Miller won out with 28.82 percent to Buoy’s 22.01 percent.

As in Ward 3, the second-place candidate overall received the most absentee votes. Miller got 103 to Peterson’s 61. Peterson, like Janis, got it done on election day.

In total, Peterson received 640 votes. Miller received 402, Buoy 307 and Ryan Dahle 46.

The final two candidates in each ward will appear on the general election ballot. Only residents of their respective wards were able to vote Tuesday, but all Edmond residents may vote for both seats in the general election. The two mayoral candidates will also appear on the general election ballot. Darrell Davis and Nathan Walters are seeking to take the place of incumbent Dan O’Neil, who chose not to seek reelection.
