There are 10 Candidates running in the House District 39 Special Election Primary Race. An unopposed libertarian, two democrats, and seven republicans.

On September 1, 2023 former state representative Ryan Martinez resigned from his House District 39 seat and a special election was called to replace him. 

The special primary election for House District 39 will be held December 12 to see who will move on the special general election scheduled for February 13, 2024. The polls will open at 7 a.m. and close at 7 p.m. on both election dates.

Seven republicans, two democrats and one libertarian will be on the ballots on December 12. Republicans include (in filing order) Cris Price, Ross Vanhooser, Kristen Ferate, Erick Harris, Ronda Lee Peterson, William A. Gaige Jr. and Tim Hale. The two Democrats are Regan Raff and Paul Timmons. Richard Prawdzienski is the sole running Libertarian. No independent candidates filed.

House District 39 has Waterloo road and 15th Street as its north and south boundaries respectively. Bryant Avenue marks the eastern boundary and Western Avenue the western boundary of the district.

 

 

Cris Price Republican

Cris Price, 53, Republican - Republican, serves as President at Price Mortgage Group, LLC. For Price, the top three issues affecting the City of Edmond encompass traffic, education, and business development. His website conveys him as a fiscal conservative, experienced business owner, and proven community leader.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Erick Harris Republican

Erick Harris, 36, Republican is a former Assistant Attorney General who had a record of fighting waste and fraud, and currently serves on the Oklahoma Department of Corrections Board. Education, public safety and tax policy are the three top issues facing Edmond in Harris’ view.

 

 

 

 

 

William Gaige Republican

 

William A. Gaige Jr., 47, Republican, describes himself as just a working-class citizen who goes every morning at a manufacturing plant like many other citizens. Gaige sees development, infrastructure and local employment opportunities as his top three issues facing Edmond.

 

 

 

 

 

Tim Hale Republican

(Ret.) Col. Tim Hale, 64, Republican, is a veteran and a former college instructor who wants to strengthen the teaching profession by increasing pay and improving the teacher pipeline. He sees growth, education and the economy as the top three issues facing Edmond.

 

 

 

 

 

Ross Vanhooser Republican

 

Ross Vanhooser, 63, Republican, has a focus on educational excellence in the classroom and a positive business climate to ensure a growing and robust economy. Education, health care and infrastructure are the top three issues Vanhooser sees in Oklahoma facing Edmond.

 

 

 

 

 

Regan Raff Democrat

Regan Raff, 43, Democrat, is a small business owner, accounting professional, wife, mother, and community advocate. She now runs her own bookkeeping business, working with home builders and other small businesses. She sees protecting public schools, teacher retention and pay, and healthcare as top issues.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Richard Prawdzienski Libertarian

 

Richard Prawdzienski, 75, Libertarian, is a Marine veteran who has run for public office several times. His top three issues in Oklahoma facing Edmond are city and state responsibility, subsidies and to diminish redistribution.

 

 

 

 

 

Kristen Ferate Republican

 

Kristen Ferate, 45, Republican, states on her website her priorities include strengthening the nuclear family, preserving values, economic opportunities, education and “opposing Joe Biden’s progressive policies.” Ferate currently serves as Governor Stitt’s appointed member of the Oklahoma department of libraries board.

 

 

 

 

Ronda Peterson Republican

 

Ronda Lee Peterson, 61, Republican, according to her website her concern issues are individual liberty, tax reform, education, medical freedom and border security and election fraud. She is a pro-life Christian and 21-year resident of District 39 and employee of Edmond Public Schools.

 

 

 

Paul Timmons Democrat

 

Paul Timmons, 62, Democrat, is a law enforcement retiree and candidate for House District 39. According to his Facebook page, Timmons’ top priorities include education, public safety, mental health and health care.
