Anyone researching their family tree will inevitably find they have acquired documents, photographs, maps, stories and a lot of papers. As the family tree grows so will the accumulation of papers, charts, and data. Over time it can become overwhelming, often making it difficult to find a particular document or photograph. On May 15th, at 10:00 a.m., the Oklahoma Home and Community Education (OHCE) Genealogy Group will host Glenn Clure Sr. as he presents “Papers, Folders, Labels, Sleeves. Choose Your System” at the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Center, 2500 NE 63rd St., Oklahoma City.  Glenn will show various systems that can be used alone, or in combination, to keep all that information organized so that items can be easily found and retrieved.

Glenn retired from General Motors after 30 years and has held a variety of other jobs, but genealogy has held his attention the longest. He became interested in doing family history when he went with his mother-in-law to a class back in 1988 and has traced one line back as far as 1785. One of his favorite discoveries occurred when he misspelled an ancestor’s name and it led to breaking down a brick wall in his Coles line.  In addition to being a member of the OHCE Genealogy Group, Glenn is also a member of the Oklahoma Genealogical Society and has many ancestors who were in Oklahoma before statehood.

The OHCE Genealogy Group meets the third Wednesday of the month at the Oklahoma County OSU Extension Center and the public is welcome to attend. More information can be found on their website: ohcegenealogy.com and facebook: The OHCE Genealogy Group.
