The Edmond Board of Education Tuesday approved the creation of two new positions which includes a full-time Board-Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA), and an Instructional Technology manager.

“I don't think that there's anyone in a public school right now that post pandemic can say behavior isn't a concern,” said Amanda Younts, executive director of Special Services. “And as we provided for you all on the numbers from 1920 pre pandemic, we were contracting and paying $7,000 to the contractor, we're up to $47,000 now. So, it has not only warranted the need to be a full-time position, it also shows that we as a district need to have oversight of that person and not rely on a contractor's schedule and availability.”

Younts told the school board that EPS needs to have a person on staff who’s able to fully train and collect data on the plans and recommendations that they're providing.

“They (teachers and staff) need someone to give them that guidance and training on the interventions that we provide,” she said.
