Live entertainment with music from the UCO Jazz Lab kicked off the event. Music continued into the evening with Brandon Birdwell taking the stage for the park’s inaugural performance, and area restaurants and businesses welcomed shoppers with extra deals and discounts.
City officials and Amy Stephens, Museum Director of the Edmond History Museum, gave remarks to the crowd touching on history, the future and most of all thanks to the community past and present.
“Not the day that the park changed, the day the park changed again, Townsend would be proud the park is still thriving!” exclaimed Stephens.
City Councilman Tom Robins, expressed his thanks to the Edmond citizens who continue to vote to provide resources to improve the quality of life.
Mayor Darrell Davis left the audience with a homework assignment and asked the community to take a moment to reflect on moments they have had in the park and ponder those in the future.
