Television Host of OETA’s “Oklahoma Gardening” show, Casey Hentges, was awarded the
NSDAR Conservation Medal Award by the Cordelia Steen Chapter during their April 11th
chapter meeting. The award presentation was given by the Chapter’s Conservation Committee
Chair Debbie Adams and Chapter Regent Tammy Ross.

Ms. Hentges is currently in her 9th season of hosting the longest running OETA show, which is in its 50th season, and airs statewide
weekly on OETA’s PBS channels and on the “Oklahoma Gardening” YouTube channel. Along
with hosting, producing and writing for the show, Ms. Hentges is an Associate Extension
Specialist for Oklahoma State University Horticultural and Landscape Architecture and conducts
Master Gardening training for the Botanical Gardens at OSU.

Earlier in her career, she served as the director of horticulture at the Myriad Botanical Gardens in Oklahoma City, served as the
Canadian County horticulture/4-H youth development educator for the Oklahoma State
Cooperative Extension Service, and worked as a commercial landscape manager in Dallas. Ms.
Hentges earned her bachelor’s degree in Horticulture at OSU, a master’s degree in Public
Horticulture Management at the University of Delaware in the Longwood Graduate Program,
and is currently pursuing a PhD.

The NSDAR Conservation Medal Award recognizes adults, youth, and businesses with distinguished conservation records that go above and beyond the
requirements of their jobs to exhibit sustained efforts to improve the environment or to educate
the public on conservation issues. It is because of her expertise in the fields of horticulture and
landscaping that Casey Hentges has become a well sought after speaker and a recognized
advocate in gardening practices throughout the State of Oklahoma. Her ongoing efforts to
educate the public on sustainable methods of conservation has made her a worthy recipient of the
NSDAR Conservation Medal Award. The Cordelia Steen Chapter applauds Ms. Casey Hentges
for her outstanding achievements in Oklahoma conservation.
