The Eagle District of the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Last Frontier Council held an award breakfast on May 2 to honor the 2024 Outstanding Citizen Award recipient.

Community members and scouts gathered to celebrate and recognize the contributions of the Reid Family, not only to the scouting program but also to the community at large.

The program included two scout speakers, Dalan Rigger of Troop 177 and Ladd Isaac of Troop 226, who described their current scout journey to guests.

Rigger emphasized scouting is something his entire family participates in and it has also given him a code to live by, the Scout Oath.

“On my honor, I will do my best to do my duty to God and country and to obey the Scout Law; To Help other people at all times; To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.”

“Scouting is a journey,” explained Isaac, “we never know what the future holds, but finding out is a risk worth taking.”

The program continued with accolades of the Reid Family’s commitment to service intertwined with their involvement in scouting.

The Reid family owns Vox Printing, which has supported many community events including a particularly cherished event, the Vox Printing Paper giveaway. Each year Vox Printing donates hundreds of rolls of paper, thousands of sheets of poster board, cartons, and other classroom supplies to teacher.

Reid Family members recognized specifically included Dennis and LaVerna Reid, Robert and Amy Reid, and David and Jennifer Reid. All have served in various positions in churches, the community, businesses, and Scouting.

The Reid family are true friends of Scouting and the Edmond Community.
