Edmond Santa Fe picked up win No. 10 on the season Tuesday with a 9-7 home victory over Norman.

After going down two runs to none to start Tuesday’s contest, the Wolves ran in nine straight as the visiting Tigers suffered numerous pitching woes.

A Hayden Towell bunt got the scoring started for Santa Fe in the second inning. The short hit allowed Teddy Doe to make it home and a wild pitch put two more runs on the board as the home team took a 3-2 lead after two.

The Wolves found home plate six times in the third inning, extending the lead to 9-2 thanks to a two-RBI single from junior Aiden Allred and a pair of wild pitches by Norman’s Wyatt Harris. Harris subbed into the game as the Tigers’ reliever, but was forced to leave early after a base hit from Towell struck him in the leg.

Norman picked up one run in the sixth to make it 9-3 Santa Fe, before giving the Wolves a late scare by rattling off four-straight scores in the final inning. Now leading only 9-7, relief pitcher Teddy Doe sealed the deal by striking out Norman’s Preston Baublit looking, giving Santa Fe the win in the first game of a home-and-home series with the Tigers.

Starting pitcher Savion Sims struck out five batters while also getting on base during all of his at-bats. Hayden Towell and Aiden Allred each batted in two runs on the night with Cole Britton adding another.

Four of the Wolves’ scores Tuesday came off Norman errors.

Santa Fe breaks its two-game losing streak to improve to 10-8 this season. Coach Kris Webb’s team will face Norman again on Wednesday before competing in the Enid Festival from Thursday, April 4, to Saturday, April 6.
