Oklahoma Christian School basketball star Luke Gray has officially found his new home.

The highly sought-after Saints’ forward announced his college commitment to Oral Roberts University on Saturday, picking the Golden Eagles over a handful of suitors including Toledo, Central Arkansas, Liberty, South Carolina State and UCO, among others.

ORU head coach Russell Springmann just wrapped up his first season with the program and now makes an in-state splash in the recruiting cycle heading into year two. Springmann made Gray, a three-star prospect ranked as the No. 3 player in Oklahoma, an official scholarship offer on March 25.

Gray committed less than a week later on Saturday, March 30, during Easter weekend.

The 6-foot-7, 220-pound big man led Oklahoma Christian School to a OSSAA Class 3A state championship in a senior season that saw him emerge as one of the top players in the entire state. He averaged 21.8 points and 11.4 rebounds per game this season en route to the program’s first title since 2007.

Gray was named MVP of the 2024 state tournament and was awarded back-to-back Greater Metro Athletic Conference (GMAC) MVP awards in 2023 and 2024. He also joined the 2,000-point club while becoming the school’s all-time leading scorer at 2,019 points.

Oral Roberts has seen a rise in its basketball program in recent years. They made the NCAA Tournament in 2021 and 2023 under head coach Paul Mills, advancing all the way to the Sweet Sixteen in 2021. They also won the Summit Conference Championship in both seasons.

Most recently, the team went 15-19 in coach Springmann’s inaugural season, missing out on the NCAA Tournament.

Gray is currently the only player committed in ORU’s 2024 recruiting class.
