Oklahoma Christian School baseball hosted the Blackwell Maroons for a Monday evening double-header, coming out on top in both contests to improve their season record to 7-4.

A chilly night for high school baseball saw the Saints (7-4) win comfortably in both games over Blackwell (2-13) by a combined score of 27-4 when all was said and done. Coach Romus Cezar and the Saints had lost their previous three matchups prior to the dual wins.

Monday’s first game got out of hand early on, as OCS took a 6-0 lead after one inning of play that featured six hits and a two-RBI home run by Spencer Stevens. Spencer Schwandt followed up with another homer in the next inning, beaming a fast ball over the right wall for a solo score.

After holding Blackwell hitless for the opening two innings, OCS finally gave up a base in the top of the third. The Maroons’ hopes were quickly dashed as Saints’ pitcher Wyatt Fitzgerald struck out the final two batters to leave the visitors empty handed.

OCS added five more runs to their massive lead in the third. Blackwell made a pitching change after giving up eight runs in two innings and wouldn’t see much improvement with the reliever. The Saints racked up four hits and had four-straight walked (two of which were hit by pitch), leading to them taking a 13-0 lead after three long innings.

OCS would hold on to win the first contest of the night in five innings, 13-0, by run rule.

Blackwell saw a little more success in the latter game of Monday’s double feature, running in four scores as the sun began to set. Unfortunately for the Maroons, OCS continued their red-hot hitting from the prior game and batted in 14 runs to win 14-4, completing the sweep on  their home diamond.

Up next, the Saints try to keep the win streak going when they stay home for a battle with Community Christian School (9-3) on Thursday, March 28.
